Your Decisions Create Your Future

Aug 28, 2025

Part of achieving your goals requires making tough decisions on what action steps to take.  Making a decision can be difficult because you’re not exactly sure how it will turn out.  Sometimes you fall into old, bad habits and make some not so good decisions that derail your progress towards your goals.  But, know that you have the power to turn your life around and make better decisions that lead you closer towards your goals and the life you truly want to be living.  Ultimately, your decisions create your future.

Decisions

Think about the decisions you are making today and if these decisions are getting you closer or farther away from your goals.  These decisions may be forms of procrastination, perfectionism, or other things that have nothing to do with your goals.  These decisions are keeping you from making progress.  These decisions are not benefiting you nor helping you to achieve your goals.

Not Making Decisions

Next, think about the decisions you’re not making.  Perhaps you’re stuck in decision fatigue.  You don’t know if you should zig, zag, go left, or right.  You’re feeling stressed out that you’ll make the wrong decision.  Maybe it will turn out badly or you’ll waste your time or a lot of money.  Simply not making a decision seems easier.  But, choosing to not make a decision is a decision in itself.

Other People

Maybe you’ve been relying other people to help you make decisions.  You’re seeking advice and choosing to listen to everyone else around you instead of yourself.  You’re looking for validation and confirmation that you’re on the right path just because someone else thinks it’s a good idea.  However, this your life.  You have to take responsibility and make the decisions yourself.  You cannot rely on someone else to make the decisions for you.  Quiet the external chatter and tune inward to make decisions that will further your progress towards your goals and the life you want to live.

Honesty

It’s time to get super honest with yourself about the decisions you’ve been making in your life.  Think about how these decisions have impacted your life already.  Take inventory and decide if you’ve been making good or not so good decisions.  Think about how you’ve been showing up for your life.  Maybe you think you’ve been eating healthy, working out, taking action towards your goals but in reality you’ve been slipping.  Get serious and acknowledge if you’ve been lying to yourself.  Be honest with yourself and admit if there are things you could do better.  If you’re not happy with where you currently are, know that you have the power to change that.  Have the courage to be completely honest with yourself.

Better Decisions

Consider how you can make better decisions for yourself.  Think about the things that would help you to achieve your goals.  Maybe that’s committing to waking up earlier, using a planner to stay organized with completing one task a day, reducing distractions, etc.  Decide who you need to be, how you need to show up, and what you need to do to actually achieve your goals in life.  This is your life and you’re only given one so make the most of it!

Future Vision

Start making decisions based off the future vision of your life.  Decide where you want to be and start taking little action steps each day to get there.  Don’t get stuck in decision paralysis.  Every time you get something “wrong,” you’re one step closer to getting it right.  There is no wrong decision.  Each decision is a stepping stone to get you closer to your goals.  Sometimes you need to learn a lesson along the way but it’s inevitably leading you to where you’re meant to be.  Get clear on your future vision for your life and start making decisions that align with that vision.

Your choices and actions determine your future.  What you decide to do or not do today will impact your future.  Be brave and strong to make decisions on your own.    Stop looking to other people to make decisions for you.  You can absolutely do this.  Each decision is leading you down your life path.  Choose to make decisions that align with your future vision for your life.
