Year End Assessment

Dec 04, 2025

As the year comes to an end, it’s important to reflect on where you were, where you are, and where you want to be in the new year.  Take a year end assessment to celebrate your success this year and figure out where you currently are.  Then, you can dream big on where you want to be in the new year and determine what it’s going to take in order to get there.  This year end assessment will give you so much clarity for the new year.

Where You Were

Think back to the start of this year.  Maybe you need to go back to your camera roll, check your planner, or calendar to jog your memory.  Remember where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, what goals you had on your mind, and plans you wanted to achieve.  Try and recall your headspace.  How your mindset was, what you were thinking, and feeling at the beginning of this year.  Perhaps you were struggling or it could be you started the year off with a high.  Rewind the tape to the first quarter of this year and consider where you were.

Where You Are

Next, take inventory of where you are now.  Think about the progress you’ve made this year or maybe you didn’t make progress in certain areas of your life that you wanted to.  Be honest about your headspace as far as what you think and feel right now.  Perhaps that’s being proud of your accomplishments, progress you’ve made, small milestones of success, and certain mindset shifts.  Or, it could be you’re a bit disappointed with your lack growth this year.  Maybe things got in the way of your goals and it had to be put on the back burner.  Whatever the case, know that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.  Don’t beat yourself up.  You’re just recognizing where you are so that you can make a plan to get you to where you want to be in the new year.

Where You Want To Be

Then, decide on where you want to be in the new year.  Reassess your current goals.  Maybe those goals no longer excite you or you want to pivot and work towards something else.  There is no shame in making adjustments or changes.  That is a part of life!  It’s your life and you get to choose how you want to live it.  Make a plan for what you want to achieve in the new year.  Set a goal for yourself, pick out travel destinations, fun local excursions, exciting events, and other things that light you up and bring you joy.

Who You Are Being

Lastly, contemplate what will it take for you to get to where you want to be next year.  Perhaps that’s leaving behind certain unhealthy or unproductive habits.  Maybe that’s adding in some new routines to help you achieve your goals.  It could be that you need some accountability.  Think about what hindered you this year and decide what changes you’re going to make in the new year so that you can make progress to finally achieve your goals.  It’s figuring out how you can make next year even better than this year.  Possibly, that’s continuing to do some of the things you did this year but just at a higher level.  Think about what you need to do, what actions you need to take, who you need to be and show up as so that you can get to where you want to be in the new year.

This perfect time of year to reflect on your growth.  Whether you are where you’d hoped you’d be this time of year or not, you’re okay.  You still have so much life in store.  Recognizing where you were, where you are, and where you want to be will help you gain clarity on what you need to do in the new year to make it even better than this year.  Continue dreaming big and get crystal clear on where and who you want to be this time next year.
