Seven Steps To Achieve Your Goals With Less Stress

Sep 05, 2019

Take a moment to picture this: you’ve been taking massive action towards achieving your goal and it is really hard work.  You’ve become so attached to the end result that you’re frantically consumed by the overwhelming demand to achieve your goal.  You start feeling stressed out and irritable because you can feel the pressure mounting.

All of a sudden this goal is everything.  It’s almost as if your life depends on achieving the goal.  You’ve invested so much time that you have to see it through to completion.

Then, when things don’t go the way you had planned, you take the anger and frustration out on yourself. You start speaking negatively and feel extremely disappointed when things fall short.  You’ve attached so much meaning to achieving this goal that it’s defining you as person.

That image is true for so many goals.  You work extremely hard to achieve your goal and when it doesn’t work out you feel like a complete failure.  You must learn to let go of attachment you place on achieving your goal.

Start achieving your goals with less stress in these seven steps.

1. Remove Expectations

Your goals often have high expectations.  These are the expectations that are not only placed on you by other people but also the expectations that you’ve set for yourself.  When you’re working towards you goal you don’t want to let anyone down. You want to prove that you’re more than capable of achieving greatness.  However, you must remove these high expectations.  Otherwise you’ll continue being overly stressed with the pressure to achieve your goal.

2. Have Positive Energy

People can sense positive energy.  When you’re feeling positive and happy you’re coming from a place of abundance.  More good things will come to you when you are vibrating at a positive frequency.  But, then there is the other side.  This is when you’re feeling stressed and pressed to create the result you so desperately want.  That negative high pressure energy builds and multiplies.  Everyone can feel it and your results become less than stellar.  Try and keep your perspective centered on positive energy when you’re working on achieving your goal.

3. Let Go Of Attachment

Learn to let go of your attachment to the end result of achieving your goal.  Life is not about whether you achieved the goal or not.  When you let go of attachment you will finally be free to work towards your goal without any added pressure.  It’s almost as if a huge sigh of relief washes over you.  The mounting pressure is gone.  The stress washes away.  Your shoulders relax and you can finally breath.  All that matters is that you’re here and living life to your fullest ability.  There is no judgement when it comes to the outcome.  Learn to work towards your goal without any attachment.

4. Doesn’t Define You

The truth is, the end destination of achieving your goal doesn’t mean anything about you as a person. Whether the project is a success or not is just the final result.  It doesn’t define you as a person.  There is still so much more to you and your life than this one goal.  Don’t put all your self worth into achieving this one goal. This realization will release so much stress you’ve placed on yourself to achieve your goal.

5. Stop Caring

Simply stop caring.  Not that you don’t care about achieving your goal but you stop caring what other people think.  You’re no longer held hostage by the fear of other people’s opinions about you and what you’re doing.  You’re able to work towards your goal with blinders on.  Focused solely on putting one foot in front of the other. Go after your goal without stressing over caring what other people think.

6. You’re Just Learning

You’ve come to realize that life is all about learning.  Everything you encounter in life is a lesson to learn.  While many people see massive failures if something doesn’t go right, you see small speedbumps.  You pause, learn, improve, and then continue moving forward.  When things don’t go the way you had hoped, you chalk it up as a lesson to learn.  Knowing that everything is simply a lesson takes away the tension behind any unexpected hurtles when you’re working towards achieving your goal.

7. Lifetime Of Goals

Know that this is just one single goal that you’ve set.  You still have your whole life ahead to figure things out if it doesn’t work out the way you had planned.  There will be plenty more opportunities for you to try and experiment in the future. As well as many more goals for you to set and achieve.  The stress of achieving this one goal will dissolve when the rest of your life awaits.

These seven steps will help you achieve your goals with less stress.  The pressure of hitting a certain benchmark fades when you’re able to remove high expectations.  Focus on positive energy.  Learn to let go of the attachment you’ve placed on the end result of achieving your goal.  Know that this goal does not define you as a person.  Stop caring about what other people think.  Realize that each attempt you make is not a failure but simply a lesson to learn.  Lastly, remember that there are still so much more for you in this lifetime.  Use these seven steps to start achieving your goals with less stress.
