There are a lot of uncertainties in life. You may think you have the perfect plan to achieve your goals only to be thrown a curveball that causes you to stop and rethink things. Living in the fear and worrying about what might happen in the future keeps you stuck. You’re so caught up in the worst case scenarios that you’re unable to be present and fully enjoy where you currently are. It’s time to live in the present moment.
You are exactly where you’re supposed to be. You don’t have to hurry, rush, stress, force, push, fear, worry, or have doubt about the future. Trust that it will unfold exactly as it’s meant to. It usually ends up better than anything you had planned or imagined anyway. You don’t need to be uncertain about the future. Trust and believe that what is meant for you will find you no matter what. When you trust that you’re on the right path, you can relax and finally be present right now, in the current moment.
You don’t need to replay the past and what you wish you could have done differently. Life went the way it was supposed to go. Usually, there is a lesson to learn, especially when you encounter a big challenging bolder in your life. You also don’t have to solely live in the future trying to visualize exactly how everything will go in order to achieve your goals and the life the life you so badly want. The truth is, you don’t know how life is going to go. All that you know for certain what is happening right now in this moment. Not tomorrow or the next day. All you’re guaranteed is this moment in time right now. Choose what you’re going to do with the present moment.
Learn to be present in the current moment. Decide how you want to feel, what you want to do, who you need to be, and what you will fully embody in order to achieve your goals. It’s not living in fear, worry, and doubt. It’s pulling from your inner strength and trusting that you are being guided on this path to live the life you’re meant to. Be present to what’s going on around you. Be present and aware of how you’re feeling, what thoughts you’re constantly recycling in your mind, the actions you’re taking or not taking, and what you believe to be true. If you’re stuck in negative thoughts and feelings, believing that you’re incapable of achieving your goals then that will be your reality. By getting present, you can choose more empowering thoughts and beliefs so that you can let go of the uncertainty and take massive action towards your goals.
Begin to live in the present moment with this grounding practice. Start by calming your nervous system and anchor your mind in the present. Find a quiet, comfortable place to either lie down or sit cross legged on the floor. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your stomach. Turn your attention to focus on your breathing. Feel your stomach rise and fall as you inhale slowly for four, hold for two, and exhale for six. On each exhale, silently say to yourself, “I trust that I am being guided.” Repeat this mantra for three to five breaths.
Next, turn your uncertainties into observations and get curious about why you’re feeling these negative emotions. Rather than just ruminating on your thoughts by constantly rewinding and replaying them on repeat. Notice what is on that tape in your mind. Discover what the story, thought, or belief is that is causing you the most fear, worry, doubt, and uncertainty. Write about what you’re feeling without any judgement. Just let the thoughts flow out of you and down onto the page.
Then, link your mind and body so that you feel at peace. Feel your body connected to the ground. Say out loud or in your head, that “I am safe. I am exactly where I need to be.” Take three slow breaths and feel the weight lifted from your shoulders. There is nothing more you need to do in this moment. Trust that you are being guided in the direction of your dreams.
Come back to this grounding practice whenever you find yourself repeating negative phrases or thoughts. Don’t just ignore it. Become curious as to why you think and feel this way. Create a calm space so that you can bring yourself back to the present moment. Listen for your inner wisdom and guidance to come through. Let that voice be heard and drown out the uncertainty you’re feeling.
There are always going to be things that are out of your control. You are only in control of your choices, actions, decisions, and response to situations. Be present, get curious, and tune into what you’re thinking and feeling. Become aware of what’s going on in your mind, body, and spirit. When you acknowledge what’s causing you the fear, worry, doubt, and uncertainty you can address it. Decide if this is a real cause to be concerned or let go of the story and choose a different one. Use the grounding practice to bring yourself back into the present moment instead of living in the fear of uncertain future.
