Sometimes you’re stuck in the in between.  That time between choosing a goal and actually achieving it.  There is a lot of work that goes into achieving your goal.  But, it’s done through consistent action.  If you’re feeling stuck or unsure of what action step to take next then it’s time to get clear on what you need to do today to get you closer to achieving your goals.  It’s making one action step decision.  It’s not filling out the complete roadmap or even the next ten steps.  It’s just the one next step.  Your future self is waiting on one brave decision.  Let’s make that decision today!

One Brave Decision

First, you need to get clear on what that one decision is going to be.  Think about what you need in order to achieve your goals.  Do you need more time, money, or resources to achieve your goal?  Then, you make a decision to get more of that!  Achieving your goals is going to require something of you that you haven’t done before.  This can feel a bit intimidating but making this one brave decision can impact the whole future trajectory of your life.

Time

If you need more time, complete an audit of your schedule.  Write down what you’re doing for a couple of days.  Notice any big time wasters, procrastination techniques, or things you can delegate to someone else.  Decide how you can free up some white space in your calendar to work towards your goals.

Money

Next, if you need more money, complete a financial audit.  Take a look at your expenses, reoccurring subscriptions, and notice any frivolous expenditures you could cut out.  See how much money is coming in each month in relation to your expenses.  Decide if you can increase your monthly revenue or reduce your expenses.

Resources

Then, if you need more resources, decide how you can acquire the help you need.  Maybe this is through an online course, further education, asking other people for help, etc.  Perhaps this is working on your mental headspace to stop replaying the same limiting belief story in your mind.  It could be finding a therapist or doing some internal mindset work.  Decide what resources you need to gain more knowledge and work on your mindset.

Settling

Honestly, your first real brave decision is internal rather than logistical.  Maybe that means that you decide that you’ve finally had enough.  You’re going to make a change right here, right now.  You’re not going to settle for what just feels fine or okay in your life.  You know you deserve more and you’re not going to let yourself stop you or get in your own way.  Stop settling for temporary comfort over your long term goals.

Who You’re Being

The first brave decision you need to make is to decide who you can commit to being.  Perhaps you decide that you’re no longer the person that quits.  You decide that when things get difficult, you will keep going.  You decide that you are someone who follows through.  You will reframe your mind to accept a challenge, obstacle, or setback as a learning opportunity instead of failure.  Sometimes the bravest decision you can make isn’t what you actually do, but rather it’s who you've decided to become.

Not Large

Remember, this one brave decision does not have to be large.  In fact, it can be quite small.  Such as, a simple mindset shift, reaching out to a friend or mentor, setting a boundary, saying no, asking for help, waking up early, or even just starting before you feel ready.  One brave decision can look small from the outside but it can be incredibly life changing on the inside.

No Decision

Lastly, making a decision to not doing anything is also a decision.  It’s a sad decision, not a brave one.  Waiting, delaying, putting things off, overthinking, overanalyzing are all excuses as to why you’re not making a decision.  You’re choosing to remain where you are.  But, that’s not where your goals get achieved.  You have to make a brave decision to do something different if you truly want something different in your life.

Your future self is not built through endless thinking. Your future self is built through brave decisions.  It’s the call you make, the boundary you set, the new habit you start, or the risk you finally take.  Your future self is banking on the fact that you’ll finally wake up and make the decision to start taking action towards your goals rather than sitting on the sidelines.  Your future self is waiting for you to decide to get in the game and stop playing small.  There are no limits to what you can achieve.   Stop waiting and make one brave decision today.  One courageous move today can change the direction of your entire life.  Your future self is waiting.  Go meet her.

Take Action Challenge

One Brave Decision

Step 1. Get Honest About Where You’re Stuck

Ask yourself, what decision have you been avoiding that could move your life forward?

Write down:

  • What goal you want
  • What’s currently keeping you stuck
  • What fear is underneath your hesitation

Sometimes clarity comes from simply being honest with yourself.

Step 2. Find Your One Brave Decision

Choose ONE action that would move you closer to your future self.

This could be:

  • Setting a boundary
  • Asking for help
  • Waking up earlier
  • Starting a project
  • Investing in yourself
  • Saying no to distractions
  • Creating a plan
  • Applying for an opportunity
  • Finally beginning before you feel ready

Keep it simple.  Your brave decision does not need to change your entire life overnight, it just needs to move you forward.

Step 3. Decide Who You’re Becoming

Complete these sentences:

  • I am no longer someone who ______.
  • I am becoming someone who ______.

For example:

  • I am no longer someone who quits when things get uncomfortable.
  • I am becoming someone who follows through.

This challenge is not just about what you do.  It’s about who you decide to become.

Step 4. Remove One Obstacle

Take one practical action to support your brave decision.

Such as:

  • Clear time in your schedule
  • Remove a distraction
  • Ask for support
  • Create a budget
  • Organize your workspace
  • Set a reminder
  • Put your first action step in your calendar

Small support systems create massive momentum.

Step 5. Take Action

Take one action within the next 24 hours that proves to yourself that you are no longer sitting on the sidelines of life.

Do not let this become another thing you procrastinate and think about.

Take the action and then, reflect:

  • How did taking action feel?
  • What resistance came up?
  • What became possible once you moved?

One brave decision can truly change everything for you!
