If you want to achieve your goals, there are five things you can stop doing right now. These five things are hindering your progress, getting in your way, and preventing you from living your dream life. You need to stop doing these five things in order to achieve your goals.
The first is overthinking. Sometimes you get so wrapped up in your head and all your thoughts that you just forget to take action. You’re running through all these different scenarios and thinking you need the perfect plan to achieve your goals. Overthinking if you do this then this transpires and you try to map out this perfect plan. You’re trying to have the entire roadmap planned out with each step. Then, you doubt yourself and start overthinking if this is the “best right” plan. You need to stop overthinking so that you can get yourself into action.
The second thing you need to stop doing is putting things off. You’re doing anything else other than the difficult work to achieve your goals. You’re not prioritizing what actually matters and what makes progress to help you to achieve your goals. Maybe you’re goofing off, scrolling on social media, watching tv, or saying yes to all the other more fun opportunities than focusing on the tough tasks to make progress towards your goals. Ultimately, you’re procrastinating. You’re coming up with excuse and reasons not to take action towards your goals. Perhaps you say you’ll start taking action towards your goals tomorrow and then tomorrow comes and you’re still not taking action. The powerful phrase, do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today is telling you to stop procrastinating.
Thirdly, you need to stop putting other people’s needs before your own. It could be that you’re a people pleaser and you feel obligated or responsible for others. But, not to the detriment of achieving your own goals. You can’t keep giving and giving without filling your own cup. You deserve success and happiness too. Stop people pleasing and start taking action towards your own wants and desires in life. This is your own life so make the most of it. Maybe you just want to make someone else proud and feel like you should follow their guidance, advice, or expertise. However, you do not need to do something one particular way just because some else thinks you should.
Fourth, you need to put blinders on and stop comparing yourself to others. You may see other people and think you’re not far enough along. You see the shiny perfect images and highlight reel instead of the mess of someone else’s reality that got them to where they are. You see what someone else wants you to see, which doesn’t necessarily mean the truth or the whole story. Your success should not be measured against other people. You are completely worthy and enough just as you. You do not have to prove yourself to anyone. Stop comparing yourself to others and accept exactly where you are on your own path to achieving your own goals.
Lastly, you need to stop quitting. Do not give up. Keep taking action towards your goals even when it gets difficult and feels challenging. This is when the true test of your determination to achieve your goals comes into play. Do not be a quitter! Maybe you complete a few action steps to achieve your goals and just when you actually start to get going, you throw in the towel and completely stop. You didn’t even give yourself a real fighting chance. You gave up too early. Do not quit on yourself or your goals and dreams. You can do this! Avoid quitting and giving up completely. It could be that you just need to try something else, a different approach, pivot, or ask for help. But, you never just quit and give up entirely on your goals.
If you want to achieve your goals then you need to stop doing these five things. First, you need to stop overthinking and get out of your own head. Second, you need to stop procrastinating and just take action towards your goals. Third, stop trying to please other people and just focus on what you need to do to achieve your goals. Fourth, run your own race, put blinders on, and stop comparing yourself to others. Stay focused on your own path. Lastly, stop quitting and be in it for the long haul, no matter how difficult it gets to achieve your goals. Achieving your goals is not easy. But, when you stop doing these five things, you’ll inevitably make it that much easier to achieve your goals.
