Dwelling on negative thoughts only dampens your mood. It casts a darkness all around you. It makes you think and believe that you can’t achieve your goals. A negative thought is a darkness. Darkness is the absence of light. When you get stuck in a negative thought pattern, repeating the same loop over and over again, you’re only escalating the darkness. At this point, you’re unable to take action towards your goals. It’s up to you to acknowledge when you’re experiencing this darkness. You can pull yourself out this darkness when you shed light on your negative thoughts.
First, determine if you’re in the light or dark with your thoughts and feelings. Simply ask yourself are you in the light or darkness? Tune into what you’re thinking and feeling. If it’s fear, anger, negative stories, or hurt then it’s all darkness. If you continue to focus on this then it will only grow stronger and continue to multiply. This will pull you away from the present moment to where you’re lost in your thoughts, feelings, and the darkness. The only thing left to do is to shed light on the situation so that there is no space for the darkness to hide.
Acknowledge when you’re in a negative headspace. Remember that you have the power to shed light on your negative thoughts. Start shedding light on your negative thoughts by using positive affirmations. Make a list of positive affirmations that you can tell yourself. Such as, life is working in your favor, it’s this or something better, life loves you, etc. You’re turning to words of affirmation to light you up, inspire you, and empower you to take action towards your goals. You’re working to shift your beliefs around your negative thought to something that’s lighter and brighter that gives you hope and reminds you that it is possible to achieve your goals.
Next, get that lightness into your body by shaking out the darkness. Try dancing, going for a walk, exercising, bouncing up and down, shaking your arms out, etc. Let go of that extra weight and heaviness that the darkness has over you and reclaim your power. Do something good for yourself that reminds you that you’re in your charge. You do not have to succumb to the negative thought spirals. You can take back control of your mind and body. When you release the darkness from your body, you’ll feel lighter and have the space or mental capacity to take action towards your goals.
Your subconscious has a positive association with light. Light is bright, like sunshine, happiness, and warmth. White light is extremely powerful and comes from the universe in its purest form. White light is love, a halo, and a giant hug when you need it the most. This is especially helpful when you’re feeling down because of your lack of progress towards your goals. Use white light as form of protection. Envision a strong, bright, white light surrounding you. This light is protecting you from harm, evil, misfortune, and most of all darkness. You can also use this for your home, car, or when you’re with other people. White light can block the darkness from being able to come in. Think of white light as your armor. It can give you the strength to take action towards your goals even when you don’t feel like it because it removes the darkness from your negative thoughts.
Lastly, think about when you were a child and shined a flashlight to check under the bed or the in closest for monsters. You were shedding light on the darkness to make sure nothing bad would happen to you when you were sleeping, vulnerable, and least expecting it. Even in your darkest moments you can use a flashlight. You just have to tune into your inner flashlight and lighten up the room. Shine light on the good things in your life and focus on what the next small step is to achieve your goals. If you’ve ever been to a concert where everyone turns on their phone flashlight, you’ll see the whole venue light up. Light is such a powerful source. Use it to help you achieve your goals and light the path one step at a time.
Often times, your subconscious is replaying negative thoughts in your head. Start by catching your negative thoughts. Tune into what you’re thinking and how you’re feeling. Pay attention to your body and if you feel any tightness, discomfort, or resistance. Acknowledge that you want to think and feel better by getting out of this darkness. Take back your power and use affirmations, movement, white light, and a powerful inner flashlight to eradicate the darkness. What you’re left with is love, hope, inspiration, and optimism for the future that you can absolutely, one hundred percent, achieve your goals in life.
