One of the most common thoughts that stops you from taking action towards your goals is that you believe you are not ready. Perhaps that’s because you think you don’t have enough experience, expertise, education, time, money, resources, etc. However, there will never be a perfect time to say you’re ready. You will repeatedly come up with another excuse or reason as to why now it not the right time to work towards your goals. Something else always seems to take priority over working towards your goals. It is said that ready is not a feeling it’s a decision. You must decide that you’re ready to take action towards your goals.
Begin by visualizing what would happen if you waited for the perfect time to achieve your goals. The truth is, nothing would happen. Your dreams would get covered in dust and your goals would never get achieved. Yet, time continues to pass. What you decide to do with that time is what’s most important. You can continue waiting for the perfect time that will never arrive or you can decide that you’re finally ready to take action towards your goals today.
Being ready does not mean being the expert at everything. Being ready means you’re ready to take action, get messy, make mistakes, learn, and grow in the process. You’re ready to face challenges head on and believe that you can figure things out as you go. You know you can make changes and adjustments. Taking action is what’s going to get the momentum going. Decide that you’re ready to take action towards your goals.
Taking action towards your goals can be scary. It usually requires doing things that you’ve never done before. Choose to make going after your goals fun. It doesn’t have to be so serious to where you have all the steps perfectly mapped out. In fact, you most likely won’t know every exact step to take until you actually start taking steps in the first place! Just focus on your one next best step to take and try to make it fun along the way.
Change your mindset around achieving your goals. Look at it as an experiment. Be the scientist and test some hypothesis. Some things will work out and others won’t. But, that’s okay because you’re learning as you go. You can also see this as an adventure to explore the possibilities and really see where it goes. Be curious and open yourself up to what you can make happen. You can achieve your goals and dreams if you just decide that you’re ready to take that first initial step.
Taking the first brave step towards your goals is evidence and proof that you’re ready. Pull from past experience that you can do hard things. It’s going to be scary and difficult but you’re ready. You can do this. Don’t let your fears, worries, and doubts tell you otherwise. As Nike says, just do it! Decide that you’re ready to go after your goals and dreams.
Think about what’s the worst that can happen if you went after your goals. Maybe that’s you made a mistake, embarrassed yourself, felt judged, etc. Those things happen in everyday life anyway. Worrying about what other people will think about you is only limiting what you can achieve in your life. Don’t let that stop you. Decide that you’ve got to go after your goals and dreams in life. You’re ready!
Lastly, visualize what would happen if you did go after your goals and dreams in life. Imagine everything that you could achieve. See how your life would be different and all the amazing things you’ve accomplished. View yourself in the future of what success looks and feels like to you. Bring that vision into complete clarity by brightening the colors of that image and really focus in on what you want to achieve. Envision where you are, who you’re with, what you’re doing, etc. The fact that you have these goals and dreams on your heart is just proof that it’s possible. There is a reason why you desire these things. You have the ability to achieve your goals in life if you just simply decide that you’re ready to bring this vision into fruition.
Often times, you don’t feel ready to take action towards your goals and dreams in life. For whatever reason, your mind wants to keep you safe in your comfort zone. But, remember, ready is not a feeling, it’s a decision. You decide that you’re ready to step outside your comfort zone and take action towards your goals. You decide when you’re ready and going to do this. Don’t just sit back and wait for the clock to magically strike a time that chimes to let you know now you’re ready! That will never happen. You’ll be waiting forever to feel ready. You must decide that you’re ready. You are ready to go after your goals and dreams in life.
