How To Stop Comparing Your Success To Others

Jun 23, 2022

When you look around and see other people achieving success quickly, you think that you should too.  Yet, achieving your goals isn’t an overnight success.  In fact, the people who you think quickly achieved success actually took a long time in the making.  You’re just seeing the highlight reel.  Here is how to stop comparing your success to others.

Mindset

You might be thinking that success happens for others but not for you.  Don’t buy into that belief.  It only keeps you stuck in a fixed mindset without the possibility of believing that there is more for you and your life.  Success is more than possible for you.  It can happen.  You just have to keep working towards achieving your goals and never give up.

Not Failing

Don’t think that you’re a failure just because you haven’t achieved your goal as quickly as someone else.  It may take you longer to achieve your goal.  But, honestly that is the reality for most people.  Your success is not determined by how quickly you achieve your goal in relation to others.  It’s based on if you keep trying to achieve it.  Success happens through many failed attempts.  This is true for everyone.  Do not see yourself as failing.  You’re giving it a shot, trying, and eventually you’ll achieve your goal.

Success Proof

Look at others success as proof that it’s possible for you too.  It’s evidence for your subconscious that achieving your goal can be done.  Sometimes a goal seems too farfetched but when you see someone else obtain something similar, it proves that it’s possible for you too.  It just might not happen as quickly as you’d like.  But, it will happen for you if you just keep at it.  Use another person’s success as inspiration instead of tearing yourself down for not being where you’d like to be.  You will get there in your own time.

Not A Competition

It’s not a competition but rather a collaboration.  Another person’s success can give you clues on how to achieve your goal faster by avoiding some of their mistakes.  Sharing what you’ve learned to help others achieve success forms a community of support.  You’re working together instead of against one another.  Collaborate, share what worked, what didn’t, and make it a group effort.  Success leaves clues.  Use the success of someone else to learn what steps you can take to achieve your goal faster and vise versa.  It is not a competition.

Stay Focused

If you stay focused on where you want to go, you’ll eventually get to where you want.  It might just take longer than you’d like.  Keep your eyes on the prize of the goal you want to achieve.  Don’t worry about what other people are doing.  Stay focused on what you’re doing.  Each day, take one small action step towards achieving your goal.  With time, you’ll achieve your goals.  It might not be as fast as you’d like, but you will get there if you continue taking action to achieve your goal.

Stop getting caught up looking around at other’s success and feeling like you are failing.  You’re not!  Trust that you’re exactly where you should be.  Comparing your success to someone else will only leave you feeling bad about yourself.  Instead, see others success as evidence that it’s possible for you.  Look at others as inspiration that you too can achieve your goal.  You’re not in competition with anyone.  You are on your own timeline.  You will achieve your goal in time.  Don’t let comparison creep in to steal your joy.  Your passion, excitement, and determination will help you achieve your goal in your own time.  You’ll get there if you just stay focused on what you’re working towards, keep going, and don’t give up!
