How To Stay Focused On Your Goal

Think about what will happen if you don’t achieve your goal.  Yikes!  You might get really down on yourself.  Perhaps your inner critic will rise up saying mean things that you were stupid for going for this goal and ask you why did you ever think that you could achieve such a goal in the first place?  This negativity will not only prevent you from going for this goal, but it can also stop you from going after any goal in the future.  You can’t let that happen.  Learn how to stay focused on your goal so that you can finally achieve it!

 

Goal Clarity

Whenever you’re setting a goal for yourself, you need focus, clarity, and specificity.  You need to be clear on what exactly the goal is that you want to achieve.  Focus on one specific goal that you’ve set for yourself.  If you have too many goals or shinny objects, you’ll get easily distracted.  You need clarity on what goal you’re aiming for.  Be specific and write you goal down.  Then, get laser focused on that one goal.

 

Disbelief

You may hear people tell you that you can’t achieve your goal.  Don’t buy into their disbelief.  You might try to achieve your goal and fail.  At that point, the disbelievers may say they were right and that they knew you couldn’t do it.  Don’t believe them.  Dust yourself off and try again.  This time, the negative voices will be even louder because the evidence shows that you’ve failed before.  But, don’t let that stop you.  Continue pushing forward and keep taking action.  Make tweaks and adjustments until you achieve what you set out to accomplish.  Do not let anyone get in your head and make you think otherwise because you can achieve your goal.

 

Mind Over Matter

The difference between achieving your goal and not achieving your goal is mind over matter.  It’s learning to quiet the negative committee.  Whether it’s other people or your own inner critic that’s rising up inside you.  You must learn to stop letting those negative voices win.  Master your mindset so that the negative voices become no more than a slight hum in the background.  Keep your mind focused on your goal.

 

Get Focused

Put your head down and focus on taking action towards your goal.  Blur out everyone else and remain focused on your goal.  In these moments, it’s just you and your goal.  You’re alone to concentrate and think about what you can do to achieve it.  Find the motivation, determination, strength, and stamina to keep going.  You’re only in competition with yourself.  You’re out to prove to yourself that you can achieve your goal.  Crank up an inspirational soundtrack and get to work!  This is what focus looks like.

 

Stop Daydreaming

You lose focus when you start daydreaming and drifting off.  Before you realize it, you’ll be too far away from your goal to achieve it.  That’s why you must stay focused on what you want to achieve.  Avoid thinking about how difficult it is to achieve your goal or how it’s easier to just give up.  Get out of your head and simply take action to keep pushing through.  Don’t get lost in a daydream about what could be in the future.  Instead, stay focused, take action, and make it happen!

 

 

Achieving your goal becomes difficult when you let the negative voices overpower your will power to succeed.  Quiet the negative voices and focus on your goal.  Clarity comes from a clear and focused mind.  Next, do everything you can to achieve your goal and don’t stop until you do!  If you’ve lost your focus, catch yourself before you get too far off track.  Remain focused on your goal and with time and a lot of effort, you’ll achieve it.
