How To Protect Your Positive State

Sometimes you’re having a good day and then something happens that changes your state of mind in an instant.  It may even begin the moment you get out bed.  In the morning, you wake up to an angry alarm clock, stub your toe on the way to brush your teeth, and get stuck in traffic that makes you late for an appointment.  You can probably feel the frustration and stress from that example.  That’s why it’s so important to learn how to protect your positive state so that you don’t let negativity take over the rest of your day.

 

Fun

The first step in protecting your positive state is to get back to fun.  Do things that are pure joy for you.  This could be painting, going for a bike ride, hiking in nature, dancing, singing, or reading.  Catch up with friends who make you giggle so hard that your cheeks hurt and cause tears to stream down your face from your uncontrollable laughter.  Make fun memories and step outside your comfort zone by trying something new.  Such as, going on an adventure by taking a hot air balloon ride, ride a jet ski, or take horseback riding lessons.  Think about things that would be fun for you to do that will make you smile and bring more positivity into your life.

 

Self Care

In order to protect your positive state, you need to focus on self care.  This means taking time out each day to reset your energy and be in a positive head space.  You can try meditating, journaling, sitting in silence for a few minutes, taking a few deep breaths, getting a massage, or going on a walk.  Do things that will allow you to clear your mind from any negativity.  When you let go of any negativity, you will have a positive state of mind.

 

Limit Exposure

Next, to protect your positive state, you must limit your exposure to negativity.  This means eliminating news stories that cover topics that bring you down.  This also includes unfollowing people on social media who you compare yourself to.  You don’t need that negativity brewing in your head.  Instead, find accounts that inspire you, lift you up, and encourage positivity.  You’ll also need to limit time with toxic people in your life who don’t believe in you and constantly complain.  Seek out at least one friend who truly cares about how you’re doing and cheers you on to follow your dreams.  This is someone who will help to protect your positive state.

 

Morning Routine

Lastly, you need to set yourself up for success to protect your positive state by having a morning routine.  Having a solid morning routine will allow you to start the day off right.  The night before, decide what healthy meal you’re going to eat for breakfast, what motivational audio you’ll listen to, and what form of exercise you’ll complete.  This may be as simple as a green smoothie, listening to a newly released podcast episode, and moving through a few sun salutations.  Avoid checking social media or email first thing in the morning so that your phone doesn’t hijack your day.  Otherwise, you’ll easily lose track of time and get sucked into other people’s agendas rather than focusing on your own.  Protect your positive state by fiercely protecting the time that you’ve set aside for your morning routine.

 

 

Use these four steps to help protect your positive state.  Don’t let the negativity in the world take control of your life.  Get out and do something fun for pure joy.  Laugh, smile, and giggle as you make new memories.  Next, set aside time for self care to rejuvenate your mind and body so that you can feel refreshed and revitalized with positive energy.  Always, limit your exposure to negativity by avoiding toxic social media, news stories, and people that alter your positive state.  Lastly, make it a habit to plan out your morning routine the night before so that you can successfully protect your positive state without interruption.  These four steps will allow you to protect your positive state and help you to live a happier, more fulfilling life.
