Sometimes you feel uninspired and unmotivated to work towards your goals. It’s easier to just do nothing and let time pass by. You opt to do anything else, procrastinating, rather than doing the difficult work to achieve your goals. But, this isn’t helping you make progress or move the needle towards achieving your goals. You’re just coasting through life with a lack of inspiration. It’s time to find your inspiration again.
One way to find inspiration is through someone else’s inspiring story. You can watch a documentary, read an autobiography, or follow someone on social media who inspires you. Discover an inspiring story of someone who overcame struggles and challenges to achieve something great. Learn what it took to get them to where they are today. Seeing what other people have achieved and gone through in order to get there is inspiring. It’s also proof that you’re not alone in this journey.
It’s not always easy to achieve your goals. But, often times, a mentor can help you achieve your goals faster. Find someone who has gone before you and achieved what you want. A mentor’s success is evidence of what’s possible for you too. Seek out advice from a mentor to assist you with process and action steps to achieve your goals. Perhaps you take an online course, go to a seminar, book signing, or talk from a mentor that interests you. Hearing about a mentor’s experience can help you gain inspiration and motivation to take action towards your goals.
Next, you might need to clear out some of the clutter in your mind. Maybe you have too many thoughts floating around in your head and you can’t concentrate on your goals right now. Start journaling your thoughts, take a silent walk in nature, go to therapy, meditate, etc. Tune into your thoughts and what you need. Be still for five to ten minutes and just relax to let your thoughts slow down. You may have a squirrel brain where you’re thinking about ten million other things and can’t focus on your goals. If that’s the case, you might need to make a to do list so that you’re not feeling overwhelmed by trying to remember everything. Then, prioritize the tasks related to achieving your goals that are on your to do list. Inspiration can strike if you just get quiet enough to listen.
Lastly, in order to find inspiration to achieve your goals, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take action anyway. You might not feel ready, motivated, or have the energy. But, don’t give yourself an option. Take one small action step towards your goals without over thinking it. You can always make adjustments and changes later. When you get yourself back into action, you start to build momentum. You begin to see small progress. Even if the action step you took wasn’t a complete success and it felt more like a step backwards, it’s still feedback that you can use to formulate your next future action step. Any action you take is worth celebrating because it’s better than doing nothing. Get inspired to achieve your goals again by forcing yourself into action and build that momentum.
Inspiration happens in many ways. But, if you’re just sitting there waiting for it to magically happen, you might be waiting a very long time. Occasionally you have to force inspiration. Whether that’s a gentle nudge by finding inspiration in other people’s life stories or a push from learning a mentor’s experience. Inspiration may strike if you quiet your monkey mind and peacefully listen to reconnect to your goals. Or, it could be that you need a much stronger shove to just jump in and take action towards your goals. Find your inspiration so that you can start making progress towards the life of your dreams instead of coasting, letting life pass you by.
