What You Focus On Becomes Your Reality

May 16, 2019

Your thoughts become your reality.  It is said that if you’re driving a car and you tell yourself don’t hit the curb, don’t hit the curb, you inevitably hit the curb.  This shows that your thoughts have a lot of power.  Your subconscious mind goes to work to make what you’re focusing on a reality.

The principle here is what you focus on becomes your reality.  If you’re focusing on all the negative things in your life this will only draw more negativity to you.  For example, your day goes from bad to worse simply because you stubbed your toe in the morning and made a big deal about it.  Or perhaps you were stuck in traffic on the way to work and this just put you in a bad mood.  You start living in negative energy since your mind is consumed by negative thoughts. This vicious cycle only continues because the negativity is getting sent out into the universe which is only circling back to you.

You must stop and think about what you’re focusing on.  If you find yourself focusing on negative things then know that you have to change those thoughts.  This also means learning to be present and in tune to your emotions.  Negative thoughts trigger negative emotions.  Instead of thinking about everything that’s not going your way focus on the positive.

Start shifting your mindset from negative to positive by listing gratitudes in your life.  This is will remind you there is a lot you have to be grateful for.  Sometimes you are focusing on the little things in life that are making you unhappy. But taking the time to focus on what’s good will put you back in a positive mood by naming your gratitudes.  You may even realize that you were making a big deal out of nothing.  It’s not worth the energy, especially negative energy, to waste your time on things that don’t truly matter.  Focus on the positive things in your life and be grateful.

Next, take a moment of silence and refocus your thoughts to something that makes you happy.  This could be something you’re looking forward to doing later in the day or a trip you have planned.  Maybe it’s spending time with a loved one.  Whatever it is, put your focus on things that mean something in your life and bring you the greatest joy.  You will find yourself smiling and working your way out of the negativity that was once consuming you when you do things that make you happy.

Lastly, change your physical state.  This means getting out of your current environment and going for a walk, exercising, or just dancing it out to your favorite music.  Bring some movement into your life in order to flush that negativity out of your system. Moving your body will shift your focus. Do things that make you feel good and bring more positivity back into your life.

What you focus on expands. If you focus on negativity that will only bring more negativity to you.  However, if you focus on positive things, more positivity will flow into your life.  Stop focusing on the negative.  Do things that make you happy in life.  Be grateful and choose to focus on the positive.  Remember, what you focus on becomes your reality.
