How To Create A Mantra For The New Year

Dec 12, 2019

A mantra is a statement or phrase that is repeated frequently to aid in concentration.  A mantra gives you focus and clarity on a certain belief you want to have.  This is especially helpful in the new year when you’re trying to make things happen and achieve your goals.

Creating a mantra for the new year is a statement that you will live by.  You are setting an intention for the new year as to who you want to be and what you want to accomplish.

Here are the four steps on how to create a mantra for the new year.

1. List Your Struggles

Think about what you may be struggling with that’s currently holding you back from going after your dreams.

Procrastination

You may be simply procrastinating on doing things that will move you closer to your goals.  Often you find yourself working on all the easy things like laundry, errands, and binging on Netflix.  Instead you should be tackling the more difficult tasks that will help you make progress toward reaching your goals.  Create a mantra that will encourage you to take action, even when you don’t feel like it.

Confidence

Perhaps you’ve been struggling with your confidence.  Maybe you don’t feel worthy or enough to achieve the success you’ve been dreaming of.  Choose a mantra that will empower you and give you the confidence to believe in yourself.  Know that you are capable of doing anything you put your mind to.  Create a mantra to let go of your self doubt so that you will achieve greatness in the new year.

Write down which struggles you need to overcome in order to achieve your goals in the new year.

2. List Your Goals

Next, think about what you want to achieve in the new year.  Write down one to five goals that you want to make happen in the new year.  Allow yourself to dream big and don’t hold back.  Remember, your mantra will help you achieve these goals.

3. List Describing Words

Lastly, envision you’re at the end of new year and you’ve just achieved the goals that you have set.  Write down three adjectives that describe the person you had to be in order to achieve those goals.  This could be confident, fearless, driven, passionate, etc.  Spending some time visualizing your success will give you clear picture for the new year.

4. Create Your Mantra

Now that you have your three lists you should be able to see exactly where you’re struggling, what goals you want to achieve, and who you have to become in the new year.  Look at these lists and see what area you need to focus on.  Write down some possible mantras that come to mind.  Create a mantra that feels good to you.

Your mantra will be your go-to saying in the new year.  It will replay over in your mind to give you strength to push forward when you need it the most.  Use your mantra as a support system to encourage you to push through your struggles, help you achieve your goals, and allow you to step into the person you need to be in the new year.  Your mantra is incredibly powerful.  It will change the way you think and feel.  Write your mantra on a piece of paper and place it where you will see it as a daily reminder.
