Four Steps To Reconnect To Your Dreams

Mar 24, 2022

Life gets busy and you get so caught up the day to day that you forget about your dreams.  Maybe you’re feeling frustrated, unmotivated, and uninspired at the moment.  Or, perhaps you’ve just been too busy to put much focus on the big dreams you have for your life.  But, this is how your dreams become forgotten and never achieved.  No more!  It’s time to reignite your excitement for your dreams again.  Here are four steps to reconnect to your dreams.

Set A Dreaming Date

First, set a dreaming date.  Choose a location that allows you dream and be in the silent stillness.  Pick a place where you have peace and quiet that will allow you to dream without distractions.  Think of somewhere that inspires you, where you can be alone with your thoughts.  That might sound scary, but that’s the perfect spot to fully let go of all your current stresses and just allow yourself to dream.  Find a spot that allows you to get into the flow of dreaming, using your imagination, and being creative.  Perhaps that’s a place in nature, maybe it’s on your couch, or you might even want to rent a hotel room to escape your surroundings so that you can completely focus on dreaming.  Select a spot and then establish a time that you can block off in your schedule to set a dreaming date for yourself.  Make this a non-negotiable commitment to yourself that you’ll do this.

Dreaming Session

Next, go on your dreaming date and simply allow yourself to dream.  Let your mind run wild.  Give yourself permission to dream as big as possible.  Let your mind wander.  Dream about what you want your life to be like.  Imagine your ideal day and week.  Envision how you want to spend your time.  Dream about what you want to make happen and what goals you want to achieve.  Think about what kind of adventures you want to go on, travel or places you want to visit, experiences you want to have, events you want to attend, and the people you want to get together with.  Perhaps you want to learn a new skill, take up a new hobby, or create and buy something.  Maybe you want to give back in a bigger way this year by supporting causes that matter to you.  Have fun with this and dream about it all.  No dream is too big or too small.

Who You Need To Be

Next, dream about who you need to be in order to achieve your dreams.  Think about the person you need to become and how you need to show up.  Maybe you need to wake up earlier, have an established morning routine, use a planner to better schedule your time, or include daily personal development resources that inspire you.  Dream about the person you need to be in order to turn your dreams into reality.

Journal

Lastly, journal about your dreams.  Put pen to paper and write it all down.  Write down everything that you want in your life.  Include how you want to feel too.  Maybe you want to feel freedom, more space, happiness, abundance, etc.  Allow your dreams to flow out of you and onto paper.  Write down your dream of who you need to be and how you’re going to show up.  When you can see your dreams written down on paper in your own handwriting, it solidifies your dream and it becomes so much more real.  This is where you find the inspiration and get fired up about your dreams again.  Here is where you can get back on track to recommit to your dreams in life.  You’ve dreamt about it, written it down, and now it’s time to make it happen!

Reconnect with your dreams by first scheduling a dreaming date to go somewhere that inspires you.  Give yourself permission to simply dream.  Let your mind run wild and free.  Dream as big as you can possibly imagine.  Just when you think you’ve dreamt enough, keep dreaming!  Next, envision who you need to step up and become in order to achieve your dreams.  Then, take pen to paper and journal about your all dreams.  Give yourself the space to do this so that your dreams come to life.  The biggest thing you’ll notice is that you must allow yourself to do this.  Give yourself the permission, set aside the time, and allow yourself to dream.  Return to these four steps anytime you need to reconnect to your dreams.
