Five Tips To Make It Through Hard Times

Life is very uncertain.  Especially right now with a global pandemic.  The fear of the unknown is scary.  However, you don’t have to wallow in your fear of the unknown.  Here are five tips to help you make it through hard times.


1. Find Healthy Habits

When you experience a crisis, you begin to question a lot of your daily activities and what’s most important in your life.  Take a look at your daily life and assess what brings you joy.  Find things that remind you how important your life is.  Resolve to carry these things forward and make them habits that you include in your daily routine.  Then, let go of the habits that are not serving you.  Stick to your healthy habits and the things that make you feel good.  Your habits will provide you with a sense of certainty when everything has been turned upside down.  Your daily habits take out any decision making as you move through them without much thought.  These habits can be grounding for you when everything else seems so uncertain.


2. Find Your Strength

Make peace with the fact that the future is unknown, as it always has been.  Pull from your past experiences that are evidence that you can make it through tough things.  Harness the power of the hurt, loss, and pain and use it as strength to move you forward.  You must decide that enough is enough and you will no longer let these feelings keep you stuck in the depths of despair.  Choose to fight for yourself and your future.  You have amazing strength within you and you can make it through hard times.


3. Find Growth

If you knew exactly how your life was going to play out, life would be rather boring.  It wouldn’t be life then.  You are here to experience life as you learn and grow along the way.  There is no crystal ball to tell you how it’s going to go.  Only you will find out as you experience life day by day.  Start by focusing on that.  Just get through today and then focus on the next day.  Take each day as it comes.  Remember that each day is a learning experience to grow.


4. Find Hope

Refuse to believe that you’ve had to experience this struggle for no reason.  You didn’t plan to walk down this path, but this is the path you’re on.  You’ve made it this far in life and there’s more path to go.  The path is going to be hard and scary but you will get through this.  The best way to get yourself to continue moving forward is to cling to hope.  There are still good things in life if you look hard enough for them.  They may be hard to see right now but the light will shine again.  You still have a future ahead.  It’s up to you to live each day and make the most of it.  It may seem difficult now, but do not give up.  Do not give up hope for a brighter tomorrow.  Do not throw away your happiness and future by choosing to remain stuck on this path.


5. Find Meaning

For everything you’ve lost, give it meaning by making what future you have left amazing.  You have an opportunity here.  Make it worth it.  Make the decision to live your life to the fullest extent.  Time will keep ticking even though you are facing a struggle.  Every day you live in a state of the unknown.  However, you must be brave and have the courage to continue moving forward.  Do not curl up in a ball and hide.  Get up, dust yourself off, and continue.  You never truly know what’s going to happen from day to day but that should not stop you from living your life to the fullest.  Your future is worth fighting for.



Use these five tips to help you make it through hard times.  Stick to your healthy habits as they provide you with a sense of normalcy.  Find strength in your past experiences that are reminders that you can make it through hard times.  Remember that the future is unknown but each experience is an opportunity to learn and grow.  Find hope that there is still much goodness to be had in your life.  Lastly, find meaning and make your future worthwhile.  You are here for a reason.  Make the most of it.
