Create Certainty With A Structured Day

Oct 22, 2020

In a world that feels so uncertain, it’s important to give yourself some certainty by creating structure in your day.  Having structure in your day may seem mundane and boring.  However, having your day planned out allows you to choose how your day is going to look.  Plus, you’ll know exactly what you need to get accomplished.  Begin to create a sense of certainty with a structured day.

Freedom

You may believe that by having a structured day, you don’t have any schedule freedom.  You prefer the idea of having the freedom to do what you want, when you want, rather than being tied to a structured schedule.  Yet, there is still freedom in a structured day.  You have the power to choose what you decide to put on your schedule.  You are in control of planning your day.  Yes, there will be things that happen that are out of your control.  But, for the most part, you get to decide what you’re going to do.  You have the freedom to choose how you structure your day and what actions you take.

Routines

You already have structure in your daily life and you may not even realize it.  You most likely have a morning routine that gets you ready for the day ahead.  This may include washing your face, brushing your teeth, and having breakfast.  You also have an evening routine that allows you to wind down and get ready for bed.  This could include taking off your makeup, turning off electronics, and putting on your pajamas.  Routines are habits that are second nature to you.  You do them without even thinking about it because you’re certain of what comes next.  You chose these routines for a reason.  They provide you with a sense of security and certainty.  If you’ve ever traveled and your daily routines aren’t exactly the same, you’ll feel a bit off.  You crave that certainty by having structure in your day.

Certainty

Creating certainty by planning out your day is the first step to taking back control of your life and future.  Maybe you feel like your world has been turned upside down and things are overwhelming right now.  When this happens, it is especially important to plan out your day.  Give yourself a sense of certainty by creating a game plan for what you need to get done.

Goals

One of the best things about having a structured day is that you can quickly make progress on your goals.  Make a list of everything that needs to get done.  Then, schedule in one to three of those things to complete each day.  Crossing tasks off your list each day will move you closer to your goals.  Seeing this progress will keep you motivated to continue taking action toward reaching your goals.

Having certainty in a structured day will give you a sense of peace.  You’ll feel relieved by knowing what you need to be doing.  There is freedom in creating your very own structured day.  There is also certainty in it.  Having daily routines gives you certainty and a sense of control.  Structuring your day to include activities that move you closer to your goals is also important.  Seeing progress on your goals each day gives you motivation to keep going.  Create some certainty in your life with a structured day.
