A Gift To Change Your Life

Dec 25, 2025

The new year is approaching quickly and if you want to change your life, you can start with just one small gift to yourself.  Give it some careful consideration as to what will help you most in the new year.  Whether it’s an item you are in desperate need of, a splurge purchase you’ve been eyeing for a while, or something a lot more realistic.  Think about what you are in need of the most that would go the furthest for you in the new year.  Here are few main areas of focus to help you choose a gift to change your life.

Self Care

Taking time to rest allows you rejuvenate your energy so that you can go after your goals.  Sometimes you feel so depleted, worn out, tired, and exhausted that you just need to recharge your batteries.  Doing something just for you, that makes you feel good and takes care of yourself will help you feel more motivated to go after your goals in the new year.  Maybe this is using an infrared sauna, red light therapy, getting a massage, using a mediation app, a fitness membership, etc.  It could be a going to a yoga retreat or somewhere to rejuvenate your soul.  You might buy a pretty journal to jot down your thoughts to get each one out of your head and down on paper.  Find outlets to relieve your stress and decide what would make you feel your best in the new year.

Learning

Think about ways that would enable you to learn and grow more in the new year.  It could be that you travel somewhere to immerse yourself in a new culture.  Perhaps you visit a museum and do a deep dive into a particular topic you’ve been wanting to learn more about.  Maybe you sign up for an online membership to learn a new hobby you’re interested in mastering.  You could enroll in an online course, go to a seminar, or in person workshop to collaborate and surround yourself with like minded individuals.  It could be that you simply purchase or check out a book from your local library on something you want to further your knowledge in.  You might decide to invest in a Kindle to read more.  Consider one gift you could give yourself to further your learning and education in the new year.

Habits

There are certain things that can help you immensely with creating healthy daily habits.  Maybe you want to have healthier kitchen supplies with glass containers to take healthy meals to work, a cookware set, wooden cutting board, water filtration device, etc.  Perhaps your goal is to walk more so you invest in a watch to track your step count, a warm jacket for cold weather walks, comfortable walking shoes, a walking pad, etc.  It could be that you want to get more organized in the new year so you purchase storage bins or a planner to stay on track.  Think about your current habits and what would help you take it to the next level in the new year.

Yourself

One of the best gifts you can give yourself is something to help you evolve and grow.  Sometimes that’s just being honest with yourself that it’s a mindset shift you need.  It’s getting out of the fear, worry, and doubt that’s been holding you back.  It’s finding the courage to try something new and go after your goals.  It’s avoiding falling into procrastination and perfectionism tendencies.  But, these things don’t just happen on their own.  Investing in a coach, mentor, or program to help hold you accountable and push you to show up in ways that will only improve your life.  This can be the greatest gift you give yourself in the new year.

Meaningful

Lastly, choose a gift that’s meaningful to you.  Maybe this a sign, quote, picture, necklace, or bracelet that reminds you of something special.  Perhaps it reminds you of who you are, what you’re working towards, or why you have a specific goal in mind.  These things hit home, in your heart, and act as reminders to keep pushing to live the life you’ve always dreamed of.  It’s a sentiment to not give up and know that amazing things are on the horizon for you if you just believe.  Discover a gift that makes the new year feel special and brings the past to the present so that it’s never forgotten.  Because remembering where you came from, all the progress you’ve made, is something to celebrate.  It’s proof and evidence that you can do difficult things to achieve greatness in your life.

You don’t have to go all out and spend thousands of dollars on a gift for yourself.  It can be as simple as a book, planner, or a new kitchen gadget.  It’s figuring out what’s going to move the needle most for you in the new year.  Think about what will help you to achieve your goals faster and easier.  Then, choose one gift that you can give yourself.

Take Action Challenge:

Choose Your One Gift

This week, give yourself one intentional gift that will genuinely move the needle in your life next year.

Step 1 — Reflect:

Pick one of the five areas from the blog or another area of your life that you want to improve and ask yourself "what is the one gift I could give myself that would help me make the most improvement in this area of my life?"

Step 2 — Choose Your Gift:

Decide on one item, tool, or resource that will help you evolve in the new year.

Examples: a new journal, a course, a planner, a pair of walking shoes, a mentor session, etc.

Step 3 — Commit:
